Description
The rivets are the whole argument
Totes fail in one place: where the handle meets the body. Stitching alone takes the entire load of the bag through a line of thread, and once a few stitches go the rest unzip in a week. Every handle join on this bag is stitched and then riveted through with solid brass.
A riveted leather tote bag costs more to make and it is not a visual flourish. The rivet spreads the load across a disc of metal instead of a row of holes, which is why a bag built this way outlives one that is only sewn.

Shoulder length, not hand length
The handles are cut long enough to go over a shoulder with a coat on. That sounds obvious and most totes get it wrong — they are built for the crook of the arm, which is fine until you need both hands. A black leather shoulder tote that actually clears a winter coat is a different bag from one that only looks like it should.
A zip top, which not every tote has
An open tote is faster to use and shows everything you own to anyone standing above you on a train. This one closes. A leather tote with zip top is the version you can take travelling rather than only to the office.

Phone, pass, keys. It is riveted at both top corners for the same reason the handles are — a patch pocket takes a surprising amount of load once something heavy lives in it.
How black full-grain behaves
The colour is dyed through the hide, so a scrape against a door frame darkens rather than revealing a pale line. The brass will dull from bright to a warmer tone over the first year. If you prefer it bright, a cloth brings it back; most people leave it.
Looking after it
Keep it off wet floors, empty it when it is not in use, and condition it a few times a year. A tote left permanently loaded will take the shape of its contents, which is either character or sag depending on what you loaded it with.

Yes. They are cut for shoulder carry over outerwear, not for the crook of the arm.
Does it close at the top?
It has a zip, which most leather totes do not. That makes it usable on public transport and for travel rather than only around a desk.
Will the brass rivets tarnish?
They will dull to a warmer tone over the first year, which is brass doing what brass does. A cloth restores the shine if you want it. It does not affect the strength of the join.
Does it hold a laptop?
It takes one, but there is no padded section or divider, so use a sleeve if you carry a machine daily. For laptops specifically, our briefcases are built for the job.
