Description
Why the handle is the part you will actually judge it on
Everything else on a leash is specification. The handle is the part in contact with you for an hour a day, and it is where nylon fails as a material — a nylon lead under load slides and burns, and it never stops being the same stiff loop it was in the shop. Full-grain does the opposite: it takes the shape of your hand and holds it.
How a leather lead breaks in
Stiff for the first week or two, then noticeably softer at the handle fold where you grip, and softer again along the strap after a month. The colour deepens at the same two points, so a year-old lead shows exactly where its owner holds it. That is the hide responding to oil and friction — a coated or bonded lead cannot do it and stays the same until it cracks.
Holding it short without wrapping it
Pass the loop over your wrist and take the strap in the same hand a foot or so down, so the slack hangs rather than coils. Wrapping the lead around a hand is how people get hurt when a dog bolts — you cannot let go of a wrap. A smooth full-grain strap slides out of a loose grip, which sounds like a flaw and is a safety feature.

What this lead is not
Everyday walking equipment, not a restraint or training device for a dog that pulls dangerously. If your dog lunges hard enough to pull you off balance, the lead is not the thing to fix — a properly fitted harness and a trainer are.
Questions
Can it get wet?
Rain is fine. Dry it at room temperature, away from radiators — forced drying cracks a hide, water does not. Repeated soaking dulls the finish over time.
Will it stretch?
Marginally, and then it stops. A single strap under even tension settles within the first month and holds that length. Bonded leads keep stretching because the glue line creeps.
Which collar goes with it?
Any of ours — the clip takes a standard D-ring. The pet accessories page has the collars in matching hides.
How do I care for it?
Wipe it dry after wet walks. Condition two or three times a year at most; an over-conditioned lead picks up more dirt and gets slippery in the hand.

What I like most about the design is the brown shade. It suits the style of this piece really well. It has a more understated appearance than some similar designs.
