Description
How to measure your dog’s neck
Run a soft tape around the neck just below the ears, where the collar will actually sit, and keep it snug without compressing the coat. Then check you can slide two fingers flat underneath. That measurement is the size you order, not the collar’s overall length — a collar is sized by the neck it fits, and the strap is longer than the number.
Which size, and what to do if you are between two
| Size | Neck | Typical breeds |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 18 in | Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, French Bulldog |
| Medium | 20 in | Border Collie, Springer, Staffie |
| Large | 22 in | Labrador, Boxer, Husky |
| XL | 24 in | German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Ridgeback |
Each size adjusts a little either way across its holes. If your measurement sits between two, take the larger — a collar you can let out is useful, and one you cannot tighten enough is not. Breeds are a rough guide only; measure the dog in front of you.
What the braided centre panel is doing
It is a strip of the same hide, cut and woven into the face of the strap rather than glued on top. It adds nothing structurally — the strength is in the single strap underneath — but it gives the collar a surface that does not show light scratches the way a plain flat face does, which matters on a collar a dog wears every day.
Why Burgundy Latigo on a dog
Burgundy Latigo hides mud, rain marks and the dulling that comes from a collar being worn through every season. Natural tan shows all three within weeks. If the dog swims, rolls, or walks in anything but dry weather, this is the colour that still looks deliberate in a year.

What this collar is not
It is everyday equipment, not a restraint or training device for a dog that pulls dangerously. If your dog lunges hard enough to worry you, a flat collar is the wrong tool whatever it is made of, and a properly fitted harness is the thing to buy.
Questions
Will the leather soften?
Yes, within a few weeks of wear. Full-grain starts firm and takes the shape of the neck it sits on, which is why a collar that feels stiff on day one sits flat by the end of the month.
Can it get wet?
Rain and the occasional swim are fine. Let it dry at room temperature, never on a radiator — forced drying is what cracks a hide, not the water itself. Repeated soaking will dull the finish over time.
Does it come with a tag?
No. The D-ring takes any standard tag and a lead clip at the same time.
Which lead goes with it?
Any of ours. See the leather pet accessories page for the matching leashes in the same hides.
How long is delivery?
Typically 4 to 9 working days worldwide, tracked and free. Duties are settled before dispatch where our carrier supports Delivered Duty Paid to your country.
