Description

The one that is different in five years

This is a real leather padfolio in the sense that matters: full-grain cowhide, aniline dyed, with nothing sprayed over the top. Within the first year the spine and the corners you hold will be visibly darker than the face. That is the surface of the hide responding to oil, friction and light — three things a coated folder blocks entirely.

What is inside

  • Snap-flap document pocket, full width
  • Angled slip pocket for immediate access
  • Zip pocket, brass-tone pull
  • Four business card slots
  • Two pen holders on the centre fold
  • A4 sleeve for a pad, notebook or clipboard

Using it as a leather notebook portfolio

The sleeve takes a stitched A5 or A4 notebook as readily as a pad, which makes this a usable leather notebook portfolio rather than only a pad holder. Keep receipts and cards in the zip pocket so the notebook stays clean, and the snap tab holds everything shut when it goes into a bag. Nothing inside presses against the cover, so the exterior stays unmarked.

Why the grade decides the ageing

A full grain leather portfolio keeps its pores open at the surface. That is the mechanism — oil and friction reach the fibre and the tone deepens unevenly. Corrected-grain leather has had that surface sanded away and a finish sprayed on, so nothing gets in and nothing changes until the finish cracks. If a brown folder looks identical after two years of daily use, that is what you bought.

Looking after it

Keep it out of direct sunlight, which lightens brown faster than handling darkens it. For a water mark, do not scrub — damp the whole panel lightly and evenly, then dry flat at room temperature so the tone levels instead of leaving a ring. Heat is what cracks a hide, not water, so nothing near a radiator. Condition two or three times a year.

Questions

Will the colour match the photograph exactly?

Close, not exact, and deliberately so. Dye absorbed into a hide varies with the hide’s own density. If an exact repeatable colour matters more to you than ageing, a pigment-coated folder gives you that — and stays identical until it cracks.

Which brown goes with navy?

Cognac is the easiest pairing. Tan against navy reads casual, and chocolate can go muddy under low indoor light.

Does it come with a pad?

It ships empty. Any standard A4 or US letter pad slides into the sleeve, which also takes a clipboard.

Can I have initials on it?

Blind embossing on request. It takes an impression cleanly, unlike the milled mocha crunch finish. Personalised items fall outside the returns window.

Is brown wrong for a corporate job?

Only in formal legal and financial rooms, where black is effectively the uniform. Everywhere else it reads as considered.

How long is delivery?

Typically 4 to 9 working days worldwide, tracked and free. Duties are settled before dispatch where our carrier supports Delivered Duty Paid to your country.
