Description
A black leather bomber with a hood: epaulettes across the shoulders, a snap flap pocket on one side of the chest and twin horizontal zips on the other, knitted rib at the cuffs and hem, and brass-toned zips throughout.
Bomber shape with a hood
The rib at the hem and cuffs is what separates this from a straight-hemmed hooded jacket. It gathers the body in so warm air stays inside and the jacket blouses slightly above the waistband — and with a hood on top, it is the most casual configuration leather comes in.
The leather
Full-grain hide, black, with the grain visible across the panels. The hood is in a soft black knit, so it sits down flat behind the rib collar rather than standing stiffly away from it.
How it is cut
Built to be layered, so there is room through the chest by design. Over a t-shirt alone your usual size is right; over a sweatshirt, take the next one. Shoulder seam at the shoulder, as always.
What to wear it with
Jeans, boots and a sweatshirt or plain knit. It is the least formal way to wear leather and, for most people, the most wearable.
Looking after it
Condition the leather twice a year. Hang it so the hood lies flat down the back rather than bunched between the collar and your shoulders, which is what misshapes a hooded jacket over time. Keep the ribbed hem uncrushed.

Size chart
Measure your chest around the fullest part with the tape level. Jacket chest is the finished garment measurement and runs larger than your body, because the jacket has to close over you. Between two sizes, take the larger.

Questions about hooded bombers
Do epaulettes belong on a hooded jacket?
They are a military detail and a hood is a casual one, so strictly they come from different places. In practice the epaulettes square off the shoulder line, which stops a hood making the top of the jacket look rounded and soft. On this jacket they earn their place visually even though they do nothing.
Is a ribbed hem warmer than a straight one?
Yes, noticeably. A straight hem lets warm air out at the bottom every time you move; knitted rib closes against your waist and keeps it in. It is the same reason bombers have rib at the wrists — sealing the openings matters more to warmth than the thickness of the material.
Can you put the hood up over a ribbed collar?
Yes, and the rib collar is lower than a stand collar precisely so that works. On a jacket with a tall stand collar a hood has to fight past it; here the hood comes up cleanly and the rib sits underneath without bunching at the throat.
How long should a hooded leather jacket be?
At the waistband, like any bomber. A hood adds visual weight at the top of the garment, so a longer body makes the whole thing look heavy and shapeless. Short body, hood up top — that proportion is what makes the style work.
How do you stop a hood misshaping the collar?
Hang the jacket with the hood lying flat down the back, not stuffed inside the neckline or crushed against a wall in a full wardrobe. A hood pressed into the collar seam for months will distort it, and that is the one thing on a hooded jacket that does not recover.
Should a hooded jacket be your only leather jacket?
Only if your wardrobe is entirely casual. A hood is wonderful for jeans and trainers and useless over a shirt or with tailoring. If you need one jacket to cover everything, buy a plain-collared one; buy this as the one you actually reach for on ordinary days.
