Description

A plain black jacket, cut with room in it

This is the one with nothing to explain. Stand collar, straight zip up the centre, two hand pockets, lined. No lapels, no belt, no epaulettes, no contrast stitching. The entire design is in the cut and the leather, which is what makes it the jacket that gets worn when you are not thinking about what you are wearing.

A mens black leather jacket stand collar like this is cut fuller than a moto jacket. It is sized to go over a crewneck or a light sweater without pulling across the back, which is the point of owning one rather than something slim.

Size chart

Measure your chest around the fullest part, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight. Because this is cut to layer, size it over the thickest thing you intend to wear underneath. If you fall between two sizes, take the larger one.

Size Your chest Jacket chest Sleeve Shoulder
XS 36–38 in (92–97 cm) 42 in (107 cm) 25.5 in (65 cm) 18 in (46 cm)

Why plain lasts longer than detailed

Every piece of hardware on a jacket is a decision that dates. Studs, zips at odd angles, quilted panels and contrast panels all place a jacket in a particular year. A minimalist leather jacket men buy once and keep has none of that, which is why the plain ones outlive the interesting ones in a wardrobe.

Black and full-grain together

Black full-grain is dyed through the hide rather than coated on the surface, so a scuff does not show a pale line underneath. That is the practical reason black outsells every other colour in leather, and it is a real difference rather than a marketing one.

Questions

What is the difference between this and a cafe racer jacket?

Cut. A cafe racer is slim with quilted shoulders and zip chest pockets. This is cut fuller through the body with plain hand pockets and no chest zips, so it layers over knitwear where a cafe racer will not.

Will it fit over a hoodie?

Over a light sweatshirt or a crewneck, yes, at your usual size. Over a thick hooded sweatshirt, take the next size up and check the shoulder measurement rather than the chest.

What chest size is an extra large?

An XL fits a chest of 45 to 48 inches (114 to 122 cm). The finished jacket measures 52 inches (132 cm) round the chest, with a 21 inch (54.5 cm) shoulder and a 27.5 inch (70 cm) sleeve.

Does black leather fade?

Dyed-through full-grain holds its colour far better than coated leather, which is sprayed on the surface and can rub pale at the edges. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun and condition it twice a year.

Can I wear this for motorcycling?

No. There is no armour, no impact protection and no abrasion rating on this jacket.

How long does delivery take and are duties included?

Delivery is typically 4 to 9 working days, tracked from dispatch. Shipping is free worldwide with no minimum order, and import duties are settled before dispatch wherever the carrier supports Delivered Duty Paid to your country, so the checkout total is the amount you pay.

Can I return it if it does not fit?

Yes. Returns are accepted within 30 days on unworn items with the tags still attached.
