Description

It arrives looking like you have owned it for years

Look at the seams and the high points of the shoulders — the colour is rubbed back to a lighter tone there, the way a jacket wears naturally after a few winters. That is an antique finish, applied by hand after the jacket is made rather than printed onto flat leather.

A distressed brown leather jacket men buy new usually looks new for a year before it starts to earn its character. This one skips that stage, which is either the appeal or the objection depending on how you feel about it.

Size chart

Measure your chest around the fullest part, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight. Jacket chest is the finished garment measurement, which runs larger than your body measurement because the jacket has to close over you. If you fall between two sizes, take the larger one.

Size Your chest Jacket chest Sleeve Shoulder
XS 36–38 in (92–97 cm) 42 in (107 cm) 25.5 in (65 cm) 18 in (46 cm)

The quilted shoulders are structural

Those ribbed panels across the shoulder add a second layer of leather over the seam that takes the most strain when you reach forward. On a vintage wash leather biker jacket they also catch the antiquing differently from the flat panels, which is why the shoulders read lighter than the body.

No two will be identical

An antique finish leather jacket mens buyers compare side by side will differ slightly, because the finish is worked by hand and the hide underneath is full-grain with its own natural variation. If you want a perfectly uniform surface, choose a smooth black jacket instead — uniformity is what coated leather is good at.

This is a style jacket. No armour, no abrasion rating, not made for riding.

Questions

What is a distressed leather jacket?

One where the finish has been deliberately worn back after the jacket is made, so the colour is lighter at seams, edges and high points. Done well it is applied by hand to real hide. Done badly it is a pattern printed onto flat leather, which looks identical on every jacket and does not continue to age.

What type of leather is most commonly used for jackets?

Cowhide for weight and durability, lambskin for softness, goatskin and sheepskin in between. Cowhide is the most common for biker shapes because it is the toughest and holds structure. Lambskin is lighter and softer but marks more easily — a trade rather than a step down.

Does a distressed jacket keep changing with wear?

Yes, if the hide underneath is full-grain. The applied antiquing is the starting point, not the end state — your own wear adds to it, and after a few years the two become indistinguishable. A printed distressed effect on coated leather does not do this; it stays exactly as it arrived until the coating cracks.

How much should a leather jacket cost?

Below roughly $150 you are almost certainly buying coated split hide, whatever the label claims. Full-grain jackets start around $250. Above about $700 you are mostly paying for a name, because the hide does not get meaningfully better after a point.

Can you wear a leather jacket in the rain?

Light rain, yes. Heavy rain will soak it. The damage is not from the water but from drying it too fast — never near a radiator or a heater. Let it dry at room temperature on a wide hanger, then condition it once dry.

How long does delivery take and are duties included?

Delivery is typically 4 to 9 working days, tracked from dispatch. Shipping is free worldwide, and import duties are settled before dispatch wherever the carrier supports Delivered Duty Paid to your country. Where a carrier does not support it, any duty is charged locally.

Can I return it if it does not fit?

Yes, within 30 days on unworn items with tags attached.
