Description
A black leather bomber with a hood built in: leather on the outside, soft grey jersey inside, drawcords through the front edge. Centre zip, zip hand pockets, knitted rib at the cuffs and hem.
What the hood changes
It moves the jacket from “occasion” to “Tuesday”. A leather jacket with a collar reads deliberate; the same jacket with a hood reads like something you grabbed on the way out. That is the entire argument for it — not weatherproofing, which leather does not really do, but the fact that you will wear it far more often.
The leather
Full-grain hide, smooth black. The hood is cut from the same leather with a jersey inner, so it holds its shape standing up rather than collapsing flat on your shoulders, and the grey edge shows at the opening when it is down.
How it is cut
Bomber proportions with room through the body and the rib gathering it at the hip. There is space for a sweatshirt underneath by design — check the chest wearing whatever you actually plan to have on under it, and let the shoulder seam decide.
What to wear it with
Jeans, a tee or a plain sweatshirt, trainers or boots. Avoid wearing a hooded sweatshirt underneath with its own hood up — two hoods stacked is the one combination that makes this jacket look wrong.
Looking after it
Condition the leather twice a year. The jersey hood lining collects dust and hair product; wipe it with a barely damp cloth and let it dry fully. Hang the jacket with the hood lying flat down the back rather than bunched inside the collar.

Measure your chest around the fullest part with the tape level. Jacket chest is the finished garment measurement and runs larger than your body, because the jacket has to close over you. Between two sizes, take the larger.

Questions about hooded leather jackets
Should the hood sit inside or outside the collar?
Outside, lying flat down the back — that is how it is cut. Tucking a built-in hood inside the neckline creates a lump under the collar and distorts the shoulder line. If the hood annoys you down, the answer is a jacket without one rather than a hood folded away.
Does a hood add bulk at the shoulders?
A little, which is why the hood here is cut in leather with a thin jersey lining rather than in thick fleece. A heavily padded hood sits like a cushion between your shoulder blades and pushes a bag strap out of place; a slim one lies almost flat.
Can you wear a hooded leather jacket with a collared shirt?
Yes, with the shirt collar inside rather than spread over the jacket. A hood has no collar to frame a shirt collar against, so the shirt should sit low and quiet. If you want the shirt collar on display, a jacket with its own collar is the better match.
Is a hooded leather jacket good for commuting?
For walking and public transport, yes — it is windproof, it layers over a sweatshirt and the hood is genuinely useful in a shower. For cycling, less so: leather is heavy to move in, and anything more than drizzle will soak it.
Why do hoods have drawcords?
To close the opening around your face in wind, which is what they are for and what almost nobody uses them for. The second, honest reason is visual — the cords and their tips break up a plain black front and are part of what makes a hooded jacket read as casual.
Does the fabric hood lining wear out before the leather?
Yes, usually by a wide margin. Jersey against hair and skin wears thin at the front edge in a few years where the hide will still be sound. A leather repairer can replace a hood lining, and it is worth doing rather than retiring the jacket.

This piece has a clean look, and the hood is a nice touch. It is the detail I would point out first. The product title and details made the design easy to understand.

I like how the hood works with the rest of this piece. The proportions in the design are appealing. The listing explains the style clearly.
